Afro Celotto ( Italian, b.1963) Murano Glass Sculpture Late 20th to 21st Cent., Italian This striking, hand-blown art glass sculpture is a signature work by the renowned Murano glass master Afro Celotto. The piece is crafted using two primary techniques: murrine and cane, in wich intricate, pre-formed colored glass rods are sliced and assembled into a mosaic of vibrant colors. The surface is further enhanced with a finishing process known as battuto, where areas are intentionally ground with a wheel to create a hammered, matte texture, providing provides a sophisticated visual and tactile contrast. Etched signature "Afro Celotto Murano" to the underside.
