Lot description
Ragheb Ayad (Egyptian, 1892-1982), a lot of three watercolor and ink drawings on paper, each signed and dated by the artist. The set includes Calle de El Cairo (1957), a colorful landscape scene featuring palm trees and architectural elements; Ramessem de Luxor (1959), a vibrant composition depicting stylized pharaonic Egyptian figures in a still life format; and Arando con Bueyes (1955), a monochrome ink drawing illustrating a rural scene with a figure plowing with oxen. These works reflect Ayads characteristic fusion of folkloric themes, expressive linework, and modernist abstraction. Each piece is presented under glass in a gilt wood frame measuring approximately 14.5 x 17.5 x 1 inches, with a sight size of approximately 11 x 13 inches. All three retain original auction labels from J.C. Naon & Cia Hotel De Ventas in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Condition: Good overall vintage condition, showing typical toning and surface wear. Frames exhibit normal storage wear along the edges and corners. Works not examined outside of the frames.
