THOMAS ROSE MILES (UK, 1844-1916) Shipwreck at Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Northumberland, monumental oil on canvas, signed lower right and dated 1870. Depicts the crew of the unfortunate ship being brought ashore by a lifesaving crew, where a small crowd has gathered in the lashing rain. Housed in a modern mahogany and gold frame, multiple tears and punctures, some repaired, overall craquelure, flaking at bottom edge.
