Lot description
Untitled unsigned oil on canvas 21 3/4” x 7 1/2” (55 cm x 19 cm) Prudencio Lamarroza’s sense of colors shines an unabashed light into a world full of childish nostalgia. Reminiscent of a child’s vivid usage of majestic colors, Lamarroza’s childhood spent playing at the shores of the majestic Amburayan and Chico Rivers translates into an oeuvre reimagining that familiar sight into colorful trees and lush, vivid rocks. Though this particular work veers away from the easily recognizable landscape of the rivers, it still embodies Lamarroza’s ethereal understanding of color, muted and overflowing, and yet never chaotic. Like a quintessential Lamarroza work, this lot at hand puts the artist’s unique perspective center stage, imbuing his canvases with nostalgia that connects his works from the past to the future he holds dear.
