Lot description

Alfred Beier-Red (1902-2001), five original drawings from the 1950s by the important German caricaturist. He worked primarily for the communist press, such as Die Rote Post, Die Rote Fahne, etc., and to protect himself from reprisals, he usually signed his work with the pseudonym ''Red.'' He was a co-founder of the Association of Revolutionary Visual Artists, and from 1946 onwards, he worked primarily for Neues Deutschland. His original drawings and prints are represented in the German Historical Museum, among others, but are rarely found on the market. Five drafts for political caricatures, ink and watercolor on paper, all signed by hand, some with significant damage, sheet dimensions up to 59 x 38 cm
