Lot description
A hand-colored etching and aquatint by Christine Amarger produced in 1974 as part of the Christie's Contemporary Art publishing program, in which Christie's commissioned and issued limited-edition prints directly from artists. The image presents a contemplative Statue of Liberty seated before the New York skyline while reading a tabloid emblazoned The Big Deluge. Amarger's expressive figurative style is enriched by warm aquatint tones and strong graphic contrasts. The work is pencil-signed at lower right and numbered 103/150 at lower left. The reverse retains the original Christie's Contemporary Art label with edition and publishing details.
