PIETER CELIE (1942 - 2015) - "Untitled" - litho - gesigneerd in potlood - gedateerd 1971 - genummerd 13/50 - 72 x 54 cm PIETER CELIE (1942 - 2015) - "Untitled" - lithograph - signed in pencil - dated 1971 - numbered 13/50 - 72 x 54 cm Pieter Celie (1942–2015) was a Dutch artist. Working with mixed media, he was heavily influenced by pop art. Pieter Celie (born Theodor Geert van de Built) was born in Eindhoven in 1942, the son of photographer Bernardt van de Built. He studied at the Eindhoven Academy of Industrial Design (1967–1969) and then at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. From the outset, he combined different media in a personal style, working as a sculptor, draughtsman, painter, designer and photographer. His work, strongly influenced by pop art, expressed his humour and consisted of a playful ensemble of life-size wooden figures, colourful paintings decorated with strings, and collages reminiscent of photographs and drawings.
