Monoprint over digital print on wove card. Signed, dated and numbered on verso. Mounted freestanding in mat in the upper edge, presented in red linen portfolio. - One of 100 copies. - Tacita Dean is a British artist who is particularly known for her film installations and photographs, but also works in the media of painting, drawing and sound installations. For the work 'Fountain of Eternal Youth', Dean explored the painting 'The Fountain of Youth' by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Dean adds a contemporary perspective to the work, which can be viewed as an allegory for beauty and rejuvenation, by enlarging individual sections of the painting and detaching them from their original context by means of the unique monotypical reworking. Despite the great span of time that divides the two works, our society's striving for beauty and immortality remains unchanged, as Tacita Dean impressively redefines in a sensitive and multi-layered approach.
