Lot description
Christopher Bucklow Tetrarch 2.32pm 31st May 2006 2006 Cibachrome print mounted to aluminum 40.125 h x 56 w in (102 x 142 cm) In the process for this work, Bucklow reasoned that a pinhole camera need not just have one pinhole. It could have thousands. He creates a life-size silhouette by puncturing an aluminium foil with 25,000 pinhole apertures. Photographic paper is placed in a huge wooden camera, with the silhouette on the front. This is pointed at the sky and the camera then records thousands of images of the sky and the sun's disc, formed into the human silhouette shape. The blue surrounding area is the blue sky. Each unique work's appearance depends on the time of day, the intensity of the sunlight, and the length of the exposure. This work is unique. Sold with signed label from the artist. Provenance: Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London | Private Collection This work will ship from Chicago, Illinois.
