Amadou SECK (Dakar, 1950) Composition, circa 1975 Mixed media on panel 59 × 120 cm Signed upper left Provenance : Italian private collection. The composition, populated by totemic figures and stylized faces, evokes the masks and sculptures of West Africa, translated here by a modernist style and dense material. The sculptural volumes, flat primary colors and earth/black contrasts recall Fiume's experiments, while retaining Seck's own ritualistic and expressive power. From the same provenance as lot 107, this work was most probably also exhibited at the Galleria dell'Isola in 1975, although it does not appear in the catalog.
