Tim Lewis, British b.1961 - More Crazy than Cruel, 1988; metal construction with mixed media on wooden base with electric motor in two parts, overall H184.5 x W51.5 x D45 cm, top H123 x W51.5 x D45 cm, base H61.5 x W62 x D32.5 cm (ARR) Provenance: Bernard and Thu Stern, purchased directly from the artist; private collection Note: Tim Lewis was born in England in 1961 and graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1987. He has exhibited internationally and his work is in public collections including the Arts Council of Great Britain, the British Council, and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Notable collectors of Lewis's work include Damien Hirst. Mrs Thru Stern, wife of the artist Bernand Stern (1920-2002), sold a large number of works by Vietnamese artists to the British Museum.
