Eros signed and dated 2016 (verso) acrylic on canvas 36" x 96 1/2" (91 cm x 245 cm) Illustrating the elegant and swirling power of love, Ferdie Montemayor's monochromatic masterpiece entitled Eros visualizes the enchanting power of love and the way it moves and connects people. Named after the Greek god who embodies passion and love, Montemayor’s magnificent painting further explores the movement of human passion, intimacy, and vitality through a monochromatic visual language. This art piece illustrates several figures caught in a circular dance or embrace through looping strokes to highlight intense movement and physicality, Montemayor had perfectly captured the energy, passion, and chaos of physical and spiritual connections. An uncontrollable nature of love—raw, consuming yet intimately connecting. For context, Ferdie Montemayor is known for his interest in movement, human form, and social energies. His 2015 masterpiece channels this theme into a visceral abstraction, where emotion takes physical and visual shape. (Mark John Castañeda)
