Lot description

Nude III - Dilaw na Bandana signed and dated 2014 (lower left) oil on canvas 48" x 30" (122 cm x 76 cm) Accompanied by a certificate issued by Galerie Artes and signed by the artist confirming the authenticity of this lot PROVENANCE Private collection, Manila Passionate, Powerful, Unified. Lydia Velasco's central focus on the female form and empowerment, as well as the dynamics of social connection, has led to the creation of such a magnificent piece from 2012. A monochromatic piece in general, this painting, entitled Nude III Dilaw na Bandana, represents a balance between passion and struggle, warmth and darkness, and individuality and unity. The eye-catching flowing ribbon conveys movement and passion to what seems a heavy tone of the painting, capturing the complex emotional layers of human relationships—the way how love, power, and resilience are inseparable forces that bind people together. Through her bold illustration of anatomy, and her symbolic use of colors, Lydia Velasco's had successfully shaped the nude form into a visual metaphor for human strength, human passion, and the spirit that binds people together.
