Lot description

BARBARELLA (1968) - Futuristic Rebel Rifle - A futuristic rebel rifle from Roger Vadim's sci-fi classic Barbarella. In the climactic battle, Dildano (David Hemmings) and his fellow rebels wielded their signature rifles against Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea) and the Black Queen (Anita Pallenberg). The film is a cult classic, well known for its distinctive production design, costuming and campy aesthetic. It has also had an influence on wider culture, such as Jean-Paul Gaultier's costume designs for The Fifth Element and the name of British New Romantic band Duran Duran. This weapon is constructed primarily from lathed wood and machined and polished aluminium. It features a split barrel, a sight tube and separate crosshair ring, a button trigger, and a semi-circular arm brace. There are some small dents and markings along both the metal and wooden sections of the rifle. Dimensions: 69.5 cm x 31 cm x 10 cm (27.25" x 12.25" x 4") Estimate: £20,000 - 40,000 Ω Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, December 5th. The auction will begin at 3:00PM GMT (7:00AM PST) and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace.
