Portrait of a Boy, oil on canvas, 43 x 33 cm - framed, 55 x 44.5 cm. The painting depicts a young boy half-length against a neutral background, with particular attention to the face and clothing. The rendering of materials, from the softness of the skin to the sheen of the fabrics, reveals the high pictorial skill and interest in realism typical of early 17th-century Florentine painting. The work shows stylistic similarities with Cyparissus (c. 1625, Musée de Strasbourg collection), in which Vignali depicts a young man with similar attention to the face, management of light, and softness of the modeling, confirming the artist's sensitivity in portraying youthful subjects, here applied to a solitary portrait of a boy.
