Myers received his education at Grinnell College in Iowa; he received his artistic training at two important Iowa art institutions--the Cummings School of Art in Des Moines and the Stone City Art Colony, founded by the American painter Grant Wood. In addition, Myers attended the Chouinard School of Art, Los Angeles and the Ozenfant School of Art, New York.
