Signed and dated lower right: F. LeGout-Gérard. 94 Fernand Legout-Gérard initially worked in the financial sector before finally turning to painting, encouraged by his teacher Ernest Meissonnier. He often painted coastal views of his native Brittany or harbour and market scenes, particularly of Concarneau, where he owned a villa, and Le Faouët. The Musée du Faouët organised an exhibition of his works in 2010.
