Lot description
The present composition is typical for Simon Verelst's output and relates to an almost identical composition by the artist already on the art market (Sotheby’s. London, Old master paintings, 18 April 2002, lot 52). We are grateful to Dr. Fred Meijer who confirmed the attribution, mentioning that the present painting might well be the prime version for the composition.
