Hans Lindenstaedt Lebende Lieder vom Neuen Konigl Operntheater Kroll vintage poster c. 1901-03 27.75 h x 18.5 w in (70 x 47 cm) This poster announces the Lebende Lieder (Living Songs) program of Berlin's Neues Konigliches Operntheater (Kroll), a musical-theatrical series blending song, image, and spoken word. A young woman with flowing hair gazes dreamily at a bluebird poised on a Japoniste flowering branch, rendered in Lindenstaedt's elegant Jugendstil line and softly harmonized tones. The composition captures the era's fascination with lyric beauty and the union of art and performance that defined the Kroll's early 20th century stage.
