Lot description

1st quality, with pommel swords in the base. The central medallion depicts a gallant scene in the style of Antoine Watteau: a distinguished couple in historicist attire in an idyllic park landscape. The back of the vase is adorned with a finely crafted, colorful bouquet of flowers. Both panels are framed by elaborately crafted, gilded frames. The openwork lid is decorated with a gold-trimmed oak leaf wreath, as is the base. The sides of the vase feature elegantly curved handles, lending the overall piece a classic symmetry. Good condition for its age. The loop on the lid pommel is chipped, the gilding is rubbed, the oak leaf wreath on the base is likely overpainted and rubbed, with some paint loss. H. 28 cm This refined potpourri vase is based on a design by Michel Victor Acier (1736–1799), who served as chief modeller at the Meissen manufactory from 1764 onward. The Watteau-style scene reflects the courtly and pastoral aesthetic of the 18th century. 360-degree photo on our website. Please visit. Jahrhunderts wider. 360-Grad-Foto auf unserer Webseite. Bitte besichtigen.
