Tom Mostyn, ROI, RWA, RCA, British 1864-1930- A sunlit lakeside landscape; oil on canvas, signed 'MOSTYN' (lower left), 50.7 x 68.7 cm. Note: The present work is a characteristic example of the artist's distinctive compositions, typically featuring shaded forms in the foreground which open onto an expansive, and brightly-coloured, scene beyond. Similar works of his include paintings which sold at Bonhams, London, on 9 March 2022, lot 164 (£3,188), and at Lyon & Turnbull, Edinburgh, on 22 November 2017, lot 79 (£2,250).
