Lot description

Matteo Rosselli,  Italian 1578-1650-  Four kneeling saints, with angels above;  black chalk, pen, and brown ink on paper, bears inscriptions 'Matteo Rosselli' (lower left) and 'O.' (lower centre), 27.9 x 23.4 cm., (unframed). Provenance:  Anon. sale, Christie's, Paris, 1 April 2011, lot 11 (€1,750).  Property of the Late Professor Eric Gerald Stanley, FBA (1923-2018) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Stanley).  Note:  The 'O.' appearing at the bottom centre of the sheet probably indicates a Florentine collector, given the origin of most of the sheets on which this symbol can be found.
