Lot description

KURT COBAIN - Kurt Cobain's Photo-Matched Seattle Airport Worn Check Patterned Hat - A photo-matched check-patterned hat owned and worn by Kurt Cobain, the lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the iconic '90s grunge band Nirvana. This hat comes from the collection of a close associate of Cobain. The check pattern placement and a light-coloured residue on the black fur trim and the fabric on one of the ear flaps can be matched to a photograph of Cobain with a fan, taken on 11 December 1993, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington. The trapper-style hat features a red, black and white check pattern with a peak at the front and ear flaps. A black faux-fur lining has been added to the lower part of the hat. The brown interior lining exhibits several marks, and some of the stitching on the hat has come undone over time. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from a previous owner and a black-and-white printout of the photograph of Cobain at the airport. Estimate: £10,000 - 20,000 † Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday, October 23rd. The auction will begin at 3:00PM BST (7:00AM PDT) and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on Friday, October 24th. Please note there is a second day of exclusive OASIS content which will close as part of a Day 2 Online auction on Friday 24 October from 3pm BST, EXCLUSIVELY ON PROPSTORE.COM.
