Maria Nesterova-Berzina Intourist / Summer Sports in USSR vintage poster c. 1935 40 h x 24.75 w in (102 x 63 cm) Designed by noted Soviet artist Maria Nesterova-Berzina for Intourist's campaign toward the Western market, this vibrant Art Deco-style poster with glittering golden text depicts a rowing team gliding up the Moskva River toward a sunlit, modern Moscow, framed by riverside attractions and industrial grandeur. A striking example of the agency's "westernized" travel advertising of the 1930s, it reflects the Soviet Union's effort to entice foreign visitors with a vision of athletic vigor and urban progress. This work will ship from Chicago, Illinois.
