The central inscription Avicenna is framed by intricate Celtic knotwork borders and flanked by four robed and haloed figures in profile, interwoven with abstracted scrollwork and geometric motifs. The piece blends Madden’s characteristic graphic precision with the soft, mottled surface effects of traditional wax-resist dyeing. Signed Madden lower right.
