Lot description

November Blooms signed and dated 2014 (lower right) watercolor on paper 29 1/2" x 10 3/4" (75 cm x 27 cm) Accompanied by a certificate issued by the artist confirming the authenticity of this lot PROVENANCE Acquired directly from the artist A renowned artist in still-life paintings that feature Filipino lacework made from pineapple fiber, named calado, Araceli Limcaco Dans’ featured piece, entitled November Blooms, showcases her proficiency in the art style that made her celebrated and renowned in the Filipino Art scene. Made in 2014, the piece includes the signature calado laced fabric, with a flower (seemingly a moth orchid or any form of purple orchid) leaning in front of the cloth. The artist appears to incorporate the piece into the focused theme of hope, as the image of the illustration, together with the title “November Bloom” (November being a month when some flowers don’t bloom, but others, like some orchids, do), reflects this theme. It’s about quiet strength and enduring beauty that flourishes even in life’s most unlikely or challenging seasons. (Mark John Castañeda)
