Objects Series III signed and dated 1967 (lower right) mixed media 12 1/4" x 8 1/4" (31 cm x 21 cm) Rooted in the artist’s experimental phase, Roberto Chabet’s Objects Series showcase his developing interest in seriality and the use of mixed media in his art forms, which later became his signature in his later conceptual art pieces. Created before his assignment as the founding Museum Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the featured piece includes three panels, each including smaller grid-like structures shaded in rich and deep colors of red, blue, white, brown and yellow, organized in a way that creates the tension between structure and intuition, hinting his growing curiosity toward conceptual approach in art that would define his later works, making Chabet the founding figure of Philippine Conceptual Art.
