Fleur Cowles, American/British 1908–2009 - Rose Family, c.1994; acrylic on board, signed lower right 'Fleur', 51 x 41.2 cm (ARR) Provenance: with Roy Miles Gallery, London, no.53 (according to the inscribed label dated '1994' attached to the reverse of the frame); Private Collection Note: Cowles was famous as a fashion editor and publisher, but also made and collected faux-naïve artworks, her own focused on animals and insects in an almost dream-like setting. She exhibited with the Grosvenor Gallery, London in 1966 and wrote on Salvador Dali.
