Lot description
Vibrant Pop art color print on archival paper titled Beach Baby by renowned Cuban artist Nelson De La Nuez captures his signature satirical style. The work presents a playful and irreverent scene: a young girl, styled in the nostalgic manner of mid-century Americana, stands by a beachside window with a mischievous glance over her shoulder. A small black dog tugs at her bathing suit bottom, revealing a tattoo emblazoned with the word Bitch, a tongue-in-cheek contrast to the otherwise innocent imagery. The composition integrates elements of pop culture and humor, consistent with De La Nuez's Art on the Edge approach, combining classic American advertising aesthetics with subversive commentary. Nelson De La Nuez is recognized as one of the leading contemporary pop artists. His work, characterized by its blend of satire, surrealism, and pop culture references, has been widely collected and exhibited internationally. Known for his bold style and distinctive use of iconic American imagery, De La Nuez's art can be found in the collections of prominent celebrities, directors, and corporations worldwide. He was also the official artist for the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, creating imagery featured on a limited-edition U.S. postage stamp. Number on lower left and signature on lower right.
