Lot description

A rarity from Pennsylvania already on account of the quartet of T1 $100s recorded on the First National Bank of Delta (Charter# 4205) by the National Bank Note Census out of an overall population of 20 notes. This unrecorded specimen is nonetheless something special among its peers. Recognized as a Replacement by PCGS Banknote, this piece is one of a small handful of Replacement National Bank Notes that we can trace for the $100 denomination. The last two Replacement T1 $100s managed to realize $1,680 (Charter# 5682) and $3,600 (Charter# 5880) while a non-Replacement T1 $100 from this same charter graded Very Fine 25 achieved a realization of $2,160 in September 2024. Notably those charters record more $100s than the bank this specimen represents making this a rare opportunity for the specialist who places a strong emphasis on Replacement Nationals.
