Lot description
WORDEN WOOD (NY/MA, 1880-1943) "M. Y. Nourmahal", Portrait of Private Yacht of Vincent Astor, gouache on board, signed lower left and dated 1929. Label verso the yacht was 263 ft, 1969 gross tons, designed by Theodore E. Ferris with Cox & King, built in 1928 by Krupp of Kiel, Germany, later served in WWII. She was used by FDR, ended up burning in Texas City, TX in 1964. From the estate of Brooke Astor at her summer residence in Northeast Harbor, Maine.
