Lot description

A vibrant and meticulously rendered porcelain sculpture, masterfully capturing the romantic interplay of a pair of golden pheasants in full courtship display. This dynamic and highly detailed composition features a resplendent male pheasant mid-descent with wings dramatically outstretched and a sweeping tail, rendered in iridescent hues of gold, ruby, and cobalt, engaging a grounded female nestled among lush blossoms and verdant foliage. Elevated on a classical pedestal-style base, glazed in soft alabaster and encircled with a metallic band. Exquisitely hand painted with a naturalistic finish. Antonio Borsato was a celebrated Italian porcelain sculptor whose career spanned much of the 20th century. Trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Borsato established his own studio in Milan in the 1940s and gained acclaim for his highly detailed and emotive figurative works. His sculptures are distinguished by their complex compositions, vivid glazing techniques, and dynamic emotional narratives. Signed Antonio Borsato Made in Italy to underside.
