Richard Henry Wright, British 1857-1930- The Grand Canal from the Steps of Santa Maria della Salute, Venice; watercolour on paper, signed and dated 'RH Wright '92' (lower right), 17.4 x 25.8 cm. Provenance: Anon. sale, Bonhams, London, 27 June 2001, lot 53 (£1,200 hammer). with Angela Hone Watercolours, Marlow. Private Collection, UK. Note: Wright travelled widely across Europe and the Middle East, depicting the landscapes he encountered in atmospheric watercolours on paper. The present work is a particularly evocative example of his oeuvre.
