Károly Cserna, Hungarian 1867-1944- A caravan, with figures riding donkeys on a road outside Cairo; oil on canvas, signed and inscribed 'Cserna Károly / Cairo.' (lower left), 78.7 x 59.5 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present composition is one which Cserna repeated, with minor variations, on a number of occasions over the course of his career. It is typical of the artist's Middle Eastern scenes, and is characterised by the colour palette of oranges and light blues which very much impart a sense of warmth to the landscape.
