Reginald Aspinwall, British 1855/58-1921- The coming shower; oil on canvas, signed and dated 'Reginald Aspinwall. 1891' (lower left), bears old inscribed label 'The Coming Shower / By Reginald Aspinwall, ARCA / Lancaster' both verso and attached to the frame, 30.5 x 53.3 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work is characteristic of Aspinwall's landscapes, reflecting his recurring engagement with river and marshland subjects. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1887 and exhibited there, as well as at the Royal Academy in London at various times between 1884 and 1908.
