Lot description
Abstract composition 1976 Lithograph on paper Signed and dated in pencil lower left. Limited edition this is number 13/40Dynamic colour lithograph from 1976, executed in a powerful, expressive style. The composition is dominated by rhythmic brush-like shapes in black, blue, red and green, which dance across the surface as if in a visual crescendo. The contrasts between the primary colours and the deep black give the work an explosive energy, while the gestures and overlaps evoke a spontaneous, almost musical structure. The lithograph breathes the spirit of the lyrical abstract expressionism that flourished in Europe in the 1970s, and is reminiscent of the work of Ger Lataster, Pierre Alechinsky or even the late Karel Appel.
