Fleur Cowles, American/British 1908–2009 - Deep Orange when Ripe, 1963; gouache on paper, signed, titled and dated lower right 'fleur deep orange when ripe -63' 34.6 x 24.3 cm (ARR) Provenance: Paintings in Hospitals, no. 13172 Note: Cowles was famous as a fashion editor and publisher, but also made and collected faux-naïve artworks, her own focused on animals and insects in an almost dream-like setting. She exhibited with the Grosvenor Gallery, London in 1966 and wrote on Salvador Dali.
