Lot description
"The Castle on the Hill", oil on canvas, signed lower right, on original keyed stretcher, canvas size 16"T x 24"W, in ornate carved plaster frame, apprx 23-5/8"T x 31-3/4"W. Wooded landscape with clearing and figures, cattle, in distance a castle ruin on a hill, overlooking a coast. Leslie was a member of the Royal Academy and exhibited at many important venues, including the Royal Society of British Artists. Acquired from Dixon and Dixon of Royal, New Orleans, LA, 1996. Condition: 2" L shape tear in canvas at lower left. Frame appears to have been painted gold. Please contact the auction gallery with specific condition inquiries.
