Henry Le Jeune (French / British, 1819-1904). Untitled - Portrait of a Dark Haired Woman - circa mid 19th century, oil on wood, apparently unsigned. Framed. Paper label to verso of panel for Charles Roberson & Company artist suppliers with note, likely in the artist's hand, "Please to cut off from the bottom as much as will make the panel square. H. Le Jeune". Second paper label to verso of panel noting "Bought at Christie & Manson June 9th / 77". Provenance: The Estate of Erwin Herling and Tova Leidesdorf-Herling, New York. Approximate dimensions: board h. 7.875", w. 7.875"; frame h. 15.25", w. 15.25".
