BIOGRAPHY: John Arthur Lomax, the highly acclaimed English artist, was born in Manchester and studied art in Stuttgart and the Munich Academie. He lived and worked in London, specialising in scenes from the Civil War and jovial gatherings. He exhibited work at the Royal Society of British Arts, the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Today his works are found in the National Collection, the Royal Academy, the Liang Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne , the Sheffield City Art Galleries and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
