Lot description
1934 | technique: oil on canvas | 80 x 62 cm | signature: bottom left | framed Lot information This still life by Josef Multrus is an example of the well-thought-out composition and refined coloristic culture of the author, who was among the successors of the realistic tradition in Czech painting of the first half of the 20th century. A stylized vase with a variety of flowers is placed on a modeled drapery base, whereby Multrus emphasizes the volume and texture of the individual materials. Accurate drawing, balanced tonality and emphasis on individual details refer to the author's training and his relationship to academic realism. The work is an example of a calm, harmonious painterly expression that draws on the legacy of a classical still life, but without decorative overload. Bidders are requested to inquire about the condition of the lot prior to the auction. Any complaints will be disregarded.
