Lot description
LILIAN MACKENDRICK (AMERICAN, 1906-1987) PORTRAIT OF A LADY, oil on board, a waist-length depiction of an attractive sophisticated finely lady dressed in a low-collared dress or jacket with bright earrings being the only jewelry she is wearing. Signed lower left "MACKENDRICK" which is possibly obscured by the frame. "Bette Vogt Stalley" is inscribed verso, which may imply that she is the sitter, but possibly just the collector; also attached verso is a brochure from Hirschl & Adler Galleries, New York, NY from the artists' solo show in 1967. This painting may have been exhibited in that show. Housed in the original frame. Circa 1960. 9 1/4" x 3 1/2" sight, 15 1/4" x 9 3/4" OA.
