Glenn Dean (Born 1976) "Snow Capped Peaks" Oil on Board. Glenn Dean was born in Torrance, California. In his 20s, he attended a junior college in San Diego for a few years and tried body-boarding as a career. He remembers seeing a "truly good painting for the first time; that's when I decided I wanted to become a painter." He began to paint outdoors and took a couple of outdoor painting workshops. However, he was not satisfied with this and turned to learn from early California Impressionists. He studied the techniques of Edgar Payne, Maynard Dixon, and William Wendt. Dean has appeared in several national magazines including Southwest Art, Art of the West, and American Artist. He has also won a number of awards, including the first ever "Emerging Artist Award" presented by Art and Antiques magazine. In addition, he is the recipient of the Grand Prize and Artists Choice awards at the inaugural Tucson/Sonoran Desert Museum Invitational.
