David James (British 1853-1904) Boats in a stormy sea near Scarborough, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right 'D. James 79'. (75cm x 126cm) Qty: (1) Notable surface dirt and yellowing to the painted surface. A stretcher mark running down the centre of the canvas. Signs of later cleaning and possible retouching, notable in the middle left and the middle right on the farthest frigate. Notable repainting in the upper right. Light craquelure to the canvas in the centre.
