Gabriel Bien-Aime (Haitian/Croix des Bouquets, b.1951) Spirits, circa 1980's, sculpted cut recycled steel, 17"/43 cm. Encouraged to become an artist by fellow sculptor Janvier Louisjuste, Bien-Aime has exhibited from the Centre Pompidou, Paris, to the Milwaukee art Museum. His recycled metal cut work and forged sculptures incorporate layering and accoutrement which add to the whimsy of his spiritual and Vodou inspired scenes.
