Bijutsu Sekai = The World of art 4 vol., 24 x 15,5 cm, vol. 10, 13, 17 and 20 of the famous journal "Bijutsu Sekai" or The World of art. Illustrated with colour woodcuts by Shotei and various other artists, most on double page, representing birds, animals, flowers, various characters, landscapes, etc. derived from old and new paintings. Japanese-style sewn, the last vol. loose Edited by Watanabe Shotei (aka Watanabe Seitei, 1851-1918) between 1891 and 1894. He was one of the first Japanese Nihonga painters to visit Europe, attending the 1878 International Exhibition in Paris and being awarded a medal.
