Eugen Jettel, Austro-Hungarian 1845-1901- A cottage amongst willow trees; oil on board, signed 'Eug Jettel' (lower left) and inscribed and dated 'Eug. Jettel 1873' verso, 37.1 x 31.1 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Jettel was a prominent landscape painter who is, however, perhaps best-known as one of the founding figures of the Viennese Secession. Jettel studied under Albert Zimmerman (1808-1888) at the Vienna Academy alongside fellow artists including Emil Jakob Schindler (1842-1892), Robert Russ (1847-1922) and Rudolf Ribarz (1848-1904).
