Maija Grotell (1899, Helsinki, Finland - Pontiac, Michigan, 1973). Glazed Stoneware Vase, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, 1940s - 1950s. Decorated in sgraffito through the brown glaze with vertical rows of whiplash squiggle lines in green, the interior in bright blue, the rim in turquoise, incised "m.g./ 69." H: 4.25 in., Diam: 5.5 in. Provenance: Humler & Nolan, Cincinnati, Ohio, December 4, 2010, lot 71.
