Maurice GUIRAUD-RIVIÈRE (1881-1947) The Enigma, 1925 Bronze with green patina Signed on the terrace. Circular stamp L.N.J.L Paris for "Les Neveux de Jules Lehmann". 37 x 40.5 x 26.5 cm Note: Guiraud-Rivière, a renowned sculptor and medalist, is known for his depictions of female figures, often imbued with dynamism and symbolism. L'Enigme embodies these qualities, featuring a woman in a meditative posture, combining subtle sensuality with introspective depth. This work reflects the period's interest in the quest for meaning and modern aesthetics, while at the same time testifying to Guiraud-Rivière's technical virtuosity in the treatment of details and the nuances of patina. It is one of the most emblematic creations in Guiraud-Rivière's sculptural oeuvre.
