Henry Leonidas Rolfe, British 1823-1881- A day's catch on a riverbank; oil on canvas, signed and dated 'HL Rolfe / 1877' (lower right), bears label for 'Leggatt Brothers' attached to the lower stretcher bar, 40.6 x 61.1 cm. (unframed). Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Rolfe was a prolific artist whose paintings of gleaming, freshly-caught fish on a riverbank are instantly recognisable, with a similar work of the same measurements selling at Christie's, London, on 27 June 2012 (lot 29) for £2,400.
